webOSroundup is proud to host the Palm Pre Challenge

So a couple of days ago a guy by the name of Tim Stiffler-Dean had a thought:

What would happen if I ditched my computer and only used my Palm Pre for all of my online and computing needs for 30 days?

What a cool idea! In fact, we liked the idea that we got in touch with Tim and convinced him that he should come on board and write about his challenge on webOSroundup (I believe there was donuts and nerf weaponry involved).

Personally, I am excited because I think relying solely on the Pre will give insights as to what is right about the Pre and also what is missing in the app catalog and what issues the new device should resolve.

It is important to note, that although we are a Palm fan site, we will not be sugar coating his articles at all. There is no question he is going to run into difficulties with this experiment…any phone would. So if you are worried this is just gonna be one long Palm infomercial, don’t be. We are interested in the good and the bad.

    Outside of my employer's office, this would be very easy for me to do. I haven't used a laptop or desktop outside of my day job since I got my PrePlus. When I go on biz trips, I don't drag a laptop either. I was once emailed an Excel spreadsheet to look at while on a trip. I had my office fax the document to the hotel front desk. I read it, called the office, told them how to make the changes, and done. Oh, and I made the call on my PrePlus. It can do that too, you know. ;)

    It is important to note, that Tim is doing more than simply “going without a computer” for 30 days. He is analyzing the process, documenting it, and working to find what is great and what needs work.

    I, for one, love my Pre, but couldn't do this…others definitely can do this, but by documenting it and all that good stuff Tim is taking the experiment to another level.
