webOSroundup is proud to sponsor Keen Studios in TechStart’s Oregon Game Project Challenge

When webOSroundup got started, on of my first reviews for the site was of two games by Keen Studios. Ever since then, I have kept track with the developer and owner of that company, Jordan Gensler.

One of the cool things about Jordan is that he is only 16. He started the company at 15 and has published 3 apps on the catalog. I gotta tell you…when I was 15, I was working at CiCi’s pizza for $4.25 an hour. Needless to say, I was impressed.

So, several weeks ago, Jordan asked me if I was interested in sponsoring his team in the TechStart Oregon Game Project Challenge. Don’t know what that is? Don’t worry…. I had no clue either… basically, it is a competition for students to get together, create a game based on a theme, and have it judged by local game programming experts (including people from Microsoft).

I am a softy for such things, so I said yes!

Well, the time has come. The competition is this week. Jordan’s team is armed with their webOSroundup shirts and are ready to kick some major booty.

What is the theme this year? “Health and Wellness”…now how do you suppose you tackle that? With Zombies of course!! Jordan and team are using the Source engine (think Half-Life) to make a game where you have to hunt down the baddies.
