How Much Would You Pay for a webOS QuickOffice App?
After receiving two to the chin by DataViz our pickings for document editing on webOS devices are rather slim. Well guys, now’s your chance to show Quick Office how much you want them to design an app for webOS.
Thanks to the persistent hounding of the folks at QuickOffice by webOS users (keep hounding here!), they finally relented and opened a public dialogue on Twitter with us. Their question: How much would you be willing to pay for a QuickOffice app?
Hmm. Tough to answer. On one hand, one would argue that we shouldn’t have to pay more than any other platform:
- $19.50 for Symbian
- $15.00 for Palm OS (Garnet, not webOS)
- $14.95 for Blackberry
- $9.99 for iPhone
On the other, we have to recognize that we just aren’t as big a user base, so we may have to pay a small premium in order to get a full office suite on our phones now. As a die-hard webOS fan who wants to see this ecosystem thrive I’m willing to shell out a few extra greenbacks for this to happen.
Amateurhack (the same guy who wrote the open letter to DataViz) immediately sprung into action and posted a poll in the PreCentral forums. The folks at QuickOffice are aware of this poll and — no doubt impressed by the sheer determination of the webOS community — will be watching this poll closely. If we pull this off guys, it will be a big win for webOS.
