HTC EVO compared side-by-side with Palm Pre on Android Central

Ever wonder what the small Palm Pre would look like right next to the HTC EVO? Well, Phil Nickinson of Android Central did just that in this great little article. He even posted a great YouTube video of the two phones, side-by-side. Check out the video after the break, complete with our obviously webOS-biased commentary:
- Phil admits right from the start that webOS has a special place in his heart. Well thanks Phil! We agree.
- The EVO looks like a MONSTER next to the Pre. I mean a big screen is great and all, but overall the device seems really, really huge. This could be a great thing and a not-so-great thing. You decide.
- Phil talks about notifications next, and admits what we all know: webOS does it better.
- Phil goes on to multitasking and again states the obvious: webOS does it better. In his words, multitasking on the Pre is “so simple, it’s a little ridiculous.”
- Memory management comes next. The Sprint Pre is dinged for running out of memory. This is sadly true… but Palm fixed this issue by doubling the RAM on the Pre Plus.
- Keyboard comparison… This part cracks me up. Testers (like iPhone-worshipping jon4lakers on YouTube) always claim “this virtual keyboard is great” and then mis-type “test” to read “teat.” Well, Phil assures us that the EVO’s huge keyboard levels the playing field quite a bit. Was he right? … No.
- The Palm Pre correctly displays “Testing the keyboard.”
- The EVO writes: “Teating the EVO keyboard.” … Heh heh. C’mon we’re biased, Phil. You knew we’d have fun with that one. You virtual keyboard fans really like your teats! :)
So, while the EVO certainly has tons of merits for Android fans, overall the Palm Pre didn’t cower in its monster shadow… of course it decided at the end of the video to go haywire at the last second (bug is more prone to happen on Sprint Pre… we hate it!!!), but he chalked it up to his inexperience with webOS. Shh! We won’t tell him if you don’t! ;)
