Review: Bubbles! Plus

I love 3D gaming on “the webOS,” but sometimes I’d rather play a game that distracts me for only couple of minutes and keeps me entertained. There are a lot puzzle and “Bejeweled©-ish” games for webOS, but I’ve come to enjoy Bubbles! Plus by ByteSequencing.com

The premise of Bubbles! Plus is simple: find sections (two or more) of bubbles of the same color, and pop ‘em. The more bubbles you pop at once, the higher your score. The trick to getting a higher score is to wait until you have the largest section of the same color that you can make. Every time you pop a section of bubbles, there’s a fun (and rather satisfying!) popping sound. The way that the game stays interesting is by having two different bubble sizes, and four different variants of the game.

It’s very straightforward, and althought its not an especially difficult game, it can be addicting like other puzzle games. I keep playing over and over again, trying to beat my high score, or my wife’s high score. My son, who is almost 5, even gets a lot of enjoyment out of playing the game. (He’s even beaten my high score a few times. #sadface)

The game has a good amount of playability for $1.99. The developer also has a free version of this app that is the exactly the same, but it is ad-supported. I’m not a big fan of ads, and I like supporting WebOS developers, so I went right in and bought the paid version. Worth it.
