If you’re looking to kill a little time, developer Hedami (creator of GeoStrings) has an app that might interest you. It’s called Web Hopper and is unique on the webOS platform. Launching the application sends you directly into a browser wrapped in Hedami’s user interface special sauce. Press the ‘Hop!’ button located at the bottom of the app and you’re taken to a random website popular amongst the Digg’ers, and we do mean random. Web Hopper offers a long list of categories to help you expand or narrow down the variety of topics of the websites you visit. As that variety is quite a bit of what makes the app fun, it’s great to check every single category (as it already comes by default) and ‘Hop!’ away.
Because Web Hopper’s random results originate from Digg, a site with a large community of users worldwide, they may not be written in your native tongue or may feature content that you might find… objectionable. That’s when the category list comes in handy to aid in filtering out things you might not want to view. If you find the page you visit interesting, Web Hopper gives you options to share it with friends or bookmark it for later viewing.
Web Hopper is a simple fun app that can provide an easy way to pass some time, get a laugh, or learn something new all while nicely integrating into your connected lifestyle. “Hop” on over to the Palm App Catalog and give it a try.
Pros
- Entertaining and interesting way to discover new websites
- The simple user interface makes it easy to jump right in and use
Cons
- The random sites might be a little too random for some tastes
Bottom Line
Web Hopper is worth a look if you want a unique new way to consume information and your spare time.
