Fortune Magazine Names HP’s Todd Bradley as “Smartest Exec” in Tech

Fortune Magazine recently praised 50 movers and shakers in technology world, and then selected their top picks (huh, much like we do here at webOSroundup) from different categories. The award for “Smartest Executive” went to none other than Todd Bradley, VP of HP’s Personal Systems Group (and now Jon Rubinstein’s boss). Already known to many Palm fans for his former tenure as PalmOne CEO, Bradley was praised by Fortune Magazine for increasing the profitablility of his division by a whopping 300% since he took over in 2005. More on this story — along with the winners of other categories — after the break.
Bradley has repeatedly recognized the importance of the booming mobile device sector, so it wasn’t surprising to us when we learned that he played a major role in HP’s decision to buy Palm. In his words:
The smartphone market is large, profitable and rapidly growing, and companies that can provide an integrated device and experience command a higher share. Advances in mobility are offering significant opportunities, and HP intends to be a leader in this market.
Fortune Magazine chose Todd Bradley over the likes of Dick Costolo (Twitter), Michael Grimes (Morgan Stanley), Andy Rubin (Google), and Sheryl Sandberg (Facebook) in this feature… it’s kind of comforting to know that the guy to whom Jon Rubinstein will be reporting is receiving such accolades. Let’s hope this translates into wonderful things for webOS under the HP umbrella.
