App Of The Day: Dead Runner
Ever had one of those dreams where you’re being chased through a forest, but you don’t know who’s chasing you and why? You can run and run, but you never get anywhere? My nightmares were realized with the download of Dead Runner for webOS by Distinctive Developments Ltd. It’s a simple time waster that’s hard to put down, with one simple goal: Run without crashing into any objects. The farther along you get, the more points you get.
The Palm App Catalog sets the perfect scene with the application’s description: “You wake up in a dark forest, surrounded by the sounds of wailing souls trapped in the haunted trees.” You, as the runner,
begin to move forward at high-speed trying to avoid hitting objects such as trees, bushes, and tombstones by tilting the phone left or right. The 3D graphics are quite stunning and the theme music is dark and eerie, matching the overall feel of the game.
There are two modes in the game: Distance and Points. The Distance mode simply has you moving forward accumulating points the further you go into the forest. The Points mode adds pickups that you collect along the way, with some accelerating you forward or slowing you down. Over 20 achievements keep you coming back for more. How far through the dark forest can you travel? Download Dead Runner today and find out!
[Ed. note: This is only available for the Palm Pre at this time. Sorry Pixi users!]
