Today was the day eh? HP has chose Leo Apotheker as CEO and President. Who is Leo? Well, for the last 20 years he has worked for a “tiny” little company called SAP, and was their CEO this past year.

According to the ever present Wikipedia, he was born in Germany, went to college in Jerusalem. He also speaks 5, count them 5 languages and is an avid lover of the vino.

Now back to the important stuff…

During Apotheker’s more than 20 years at SAP, he was a driving force in making it the largest business software applications company in the world. Apotheker helped develop and implement the most significant changes in SAP history. During his tenure, he transformed R&D and technology platforms and expanded business models and customer segments. Apotheker also helped lead SAP to 18 consecutive quarters of double-digit software revenue growth between 2004 and 2009.

Of the announcement Leo said the following:

“HP has a powerful mix of businesses, products and services, one of the most innovative cultures in the industry, and an accomplished management team who have played a critical role in its success,” said Apotheker. “I am deeply honored to be joining the more than 300,000 dedicated HP employees.”

Apotheker continued, “Given HP’s diversified products and services, its financial strength, and its leadership position across markets, no other company is as well positioned to drive – and profit from – the revolutionary changes under way in the marketplace. As we move forward, HP will continue to be a valued partner with our customers as well as a fierce competitor. I look forward to working with the outstanding people at HP to write the next chapter in the company’s long and proud history.”

“I am excited to join the Board of this pioneering company, and look forward to working closely with Léo – and the rest of the Board

So there you have it folks…the new CEO! We will post more as we go diggin’ on Leo.

Terrible news…he was fired/resigned from SAP earlier this year because he didn’t grow the company. They were stagnant with very little growth in the last several years. Say bye to Todd Bradley…he shouldn’t gotten it, why would he stick around now?

EDIT ***He should have gotten it***

Its a small world eh, SAP has indirectly paid my bills for 10 years and now Leo Apotheker is in charge of my favourite OS, as long as they don’t put ABAP in the SDK …..

      You work for SAP?

Great….. and we thought Carly brought down the company, we just went from one monster to another. How can you lead a major company when your favorite saying to it’s employees is ” have I fired you today?” Our pay and all our benefits have already been cut back to bare bones…. what’s he going to want- our first born, blood? I’ve really given up on this company.
