A second HP Slate video has been released, by the same kid (x313xkillax) who leaked the first video. This longer (8:34) video gives us some new glimpses into the Slate itself, while giving us starving webOS fans some insights on what we might expect from a webOS tablet. This unboxing video includes a complete run of the Slate’s specs (Intel Atom processor, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 64 GB solid state drive, 8.9″ screen), and shows off some accessories, such as an optional touchpen (yes, please) and a nifty foldable stand complete with USB and HDMI outputs.

The webcam demonstration seemed smooth enough to us, but the browser’s scrolling and multi-touch performance was laggy and devoid of any polish we’ve seen in the iPad. (This is a recent video, too. The news headline of Lindsay Lohan going back to jail is less than a week old!) Granted, we’re comparing a full computer OS and a phone OS here, but we hope HP’s aware of the higher standard that will be expected of a consumer device, such as the PalmPad. More as we hear it…

UPDATE: Well, it appears the video has been pulled. Hope you guys got a good glimpse! A word of advice to the video’s creator: the next time you leak a product, don’t show your face on the webcam multiple times! It helps with the whole anonymity thing…

flattr this!

Is this not just a (stolen) Slate that was presented at the CES in 2009??

Good question. It's anybody's guess, really. Again, how a kid like that gets his hands on a highly secret device is beyond me.

Maybe he realised it is not a very good idea to post a video of a secret prototype with the own face in the camera for several times :)

ooooooo that's interesting. You could see him clearly in the video chat example and I was thinking how funny would that be if this guy works for HP and his boss sees him. Opps!
