What’s This? An HP Envy… PRINTER?!
Okay now we’ve seen it all. HP has just unveiled a new series of printers, including none other than an Envy 100 model. As you can expect, this printer is unique. According to Slashgear, this baby boasts paper trays that can slide open and closed, much like a CD-ROM drive. Pretty slick. It does all the stuff you’d expect: print, copy, fax, scan… as well as install web-based printing apps. Here’s the kicker: it runs on Android. (Obviously this is one of those projects that were pretty far along by the time HP acquired webOS.)
This news comes on the heels of HP’s Photosmart eStation C510, their first-ever tablet/printer combo which allows you to print remotely using a 7″ Android-powered slate.
The implications of these developments are pretty exciting and not all that far-reaching. For one thing, if that awesome “Envy” moniker can get slapped onto a printer, why not a webOS phone or tablet? Also, imagine that tablet/printer combo using a webOS-powered tablet device that is designed to be much more than just a removable remote printing station. We’re just thinking with our tiny primitive brains here, but are pretty sure HP has some pretty cool stuff in store for us.
