App of the Day: A Hangman Haunting

By: , 10/29/2010 4:53 pm | 2 comments

We get a little Halloween inspiration with our App of the Day featuring A Hangman Haunting by PJ Nation LLC ($0.99). Great looking graphics and spooky animation, complete with flying witches set the background for this time-tested classic. Guess the word by tapping on the letters. If you get a letter wrong, a new body part appears. You have just a handful of guesses before you complete the skeleton’s parts and it’s game over. We could have used a bit more spacing between the letters, and maybe some spooky sounds, but you can’t go wrong with a good game of hangman, right?

The game puts an interesting spin on its hints system. If you’re stuck and need a hint to solve the word, just tap the Show Hint button and you’re taken to a different game- a game within a game! This time it’s Cobwebs and Spiders- a Tic-Tac-Toe inspired game that if you win, you are given a hint to help you solve the word. If you lose, you have the option to “give up” and return to hang man, or try again. Winning a game of Tic-Tac-Toe can be a challenge all together, if winnable at all. It is possible, though, so use your hints wisely!

A Hangman Haunting can be decent time killer if you’re missing out on the Halloween fun this year, but you wouldn’t want to do that now, would you? Grab the game today and add TO the fun- that’s what we say!

Happy hauntings from your friends at webOSroundup!

flattr this!

the letters are to close together and it’s riddled with spelling errors and mistakes like “Ichabob Crane” instead of “Ichabod Crane” the actual name of the character…

Thanks for your comment Chris! I agree the letter spacing is small and I mention that in this review. I haven’t run into any spelling errors, though. I do know the developer has pushed out two updates to the app this week alone.
