Palm Pre 2 has faster RAM than Pre Plus!

In a nice little discovery, it seems as though the Palm Pre 2 not only has a faster processor than its predecessor, it also has faster RAM. The Pre 2′s 512MB clocks in at 200MHz, whilst its older brother’s 512MB RAM clocks in at 166MHz. Whilst it may not at first seem like a significant hike in speed, once considered, it’s a good 20% increase, which’ll definitely help to give the Pre 2 that extra performance boost.

The information comes courtesy of Palm documentation that was sent to French Palm Pre 2 reviewers.

    If HP also releases a CDMA variant it would be a sweet deal. This way we Sprint original Pre owners could purchase and upgrade our phones without utilizing our Sprint upgrade. Another thing is the carriers wouldnt be locked into at all with supplying to the customer.

      Apparently, Sprint will not activate anything on their networks that they haven’t explicitly approved. So even an unlocked CDMA phone would do you no good if you want service from Sprint.

      Wikipedia is wrong. There is an OMAP3630-1000 variant available to OEMs from TI. It’s also in the Droid/X. It is not overclocked.

    Marco is currently experimenting with 200MHz RAM overclocking on the Pre … it’s in the latest alpha F105 kernel.

        It won’t bother Ryan, but everyone else should know that the alpha F105 is currently even more bleeding edge and experimental than it usually is.
