Ask any Palm fan and they will tell you that Astraware has brought us some awesome apps over the years and have continued to do so with webOS. This time around they teamed up with Sandlot Games to bring us Tradewinds 2 which is a pretty well known adventure trading game from the PC. So without further ado we give you their press release:

Staffordshire, UK – November 11, 2010 – Astraware® and Sandlot Games® are excited to announce they are bringing the highly-acclaimed adventure trading game, Tradewinds® 2, to Palm® Pre™ and Pre Plus smartphones.

Astraware has recently released its first games for webOS™, and is delighted to work with long-term partner Sandlot Games to add to the range of quality games on the App Catalog by bringing one of its most popular franchises to the platform.

“Astraware continues to be a fantastic partner on a variety of platforms, bringing the best of our franchises to new users worldwide,” said Daniel Bernstein, CEO of Sandlot Games. “We look forward to the success of Tradewinds 2 on the webOS platform.”

Players are invited to navigate a fascinating new world and discover uncharted ports teeming with friends and foes alike. They can be a master commander, defeating pirates and plundering their vast hordes of booty, or they can play it safe by trading exotic island goods, gradually amassing untold wealth, power and influence.

“We’re delighted to work with Sandlot to bring Tradewinds 2 to webOS smartphones,” said Howard Tomlinson, CEO of Astraware. “Many long-time Palm users will know and love the Tradewinds games and we’re sure they’ll love the hours of in-depth game play, trading in goods, battling pirates and completing missions”.

Not to be a buzzkill, but does this site or PreCentral ever have a bad thing to say about a new game? They can’t all be good..and to be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of Astrawares first batch of Palm games to hit my Pre. How about you guys give us a small list of games to avoid? There’s almost 1,000 games in the App Catalog, so surely there’s a few worth mentioning. I’m sure DS Effects could fill out a big part of that list alone.

Dude I bag on bad games on a regular basis and have been known to give a handful of bad reviews. This in no way is a review of any type. It’s a Press Release.

      • Tim

No need to get so warped…but this piece seems written as a promotion of this game. And calling it ‘the latest and greatest’ app from this particular developer without having played it enough to review it is just a little strange to me. I love WebOS..wouldnt move to another OS regardless…and I love that we are getting more apps, but we shouldn’t be so quick to scream every app that hits the AC is great, regardless of the developer. That’s all I’m saying.

I’m not getting bent about your comment. Believe me I’ve had much more harsh words than that lol I just wanted to clarify that is was a Press Release and in no way shape or form a review. If I made it sound rather exciting I’m sorry. Believe me if this app sucks we will let it be known. However I have played this on the PC and it is entertaining.

I remember playing Tradewinds on my T|X.. how I long for HPalm to get their xxx out of their xxxses and let anyone buy apps from the stores, not just in approved countries.

Dude I agree about the DS Effects. I know their games are free but just because they don’t charge for it doesn’t mean they shoulnt put more effort into their games. It’s like some 5 year old turned dev is just spewing cheesy half baked games at random.
