Facebook Beta App Updated – Now Supports Places!

By: , 11/19/2010 2:17 am | 6 comments

Palm have pushed out an update to the beta Facebook client which raises its version to 1.4.53, and the big change here is the addition of Places.

Places works in a similar way to Gowalla and Foursquare in that you can “check in” with your geo-location and a comment and show everybody where you are or where you’ve been. While Gowalla and Foursquare users might be harder to sway, we think the average user is much more likely to take advantage of Places being part of the main Facebook app.

This update proves that Palm are quite capable of keeping their Facebook app relevant and up to date. The features might not be released with the speed and pioneering flair of the iOS client, but the features do come nevertheless and are not overlooked. With Facebook Chat on the way to the webOS client too (currently chalked for the 2.0 release), we think Palm’s offering is going to be one of the better – if not the best Facebook client around.

Mine is still not updated. Not really interested in using places but interesting to have it anyhow I guess.

What about groups? Does that work in the Facebook client?
