Palm Pre 2 Available Europe-wide for €499

Not only has the Pre 2 been released SIM free and unlocked to the UK and Germany, it’s also been quietly made available throughout Europe too. The Palm Eurostore is displaying it as available in Spain, France, Italy, Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands and also Russia. That’s a pretty wide span if you ask us. The only bizarre thing is the devices are QWERTY models, when of course other countries on the continent use QWERTZ or AZERTY configurations. A strange move that could end up deterring some folk.

Aside from all this, we just wish there was a bit more noise from HP Palm being made about its availability. As far as we’ve seen so far, there’s only been announcements made via social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.  It’d be nice to see this cracking little video make it on to TV ads YouTube Preview Image

Strictly my opinion here but the Pre2 is being aimed solely at the die hard webOS users. I don’t see HP putting any type of real muscle behind this thing.

Oh I wholeheartedly agree, I’ve said the same thing myself. But a few adverts here and there aren’t gonna put a dent on the company that spent $1.2bil on an acquisition.

No denying that lol Hell HP could flush Palm down the toilet tomorrow and it wouldn’t hurt them lol

Ouch! That’s $718. I love WebOs as much as anyone but if that’s the best HP is going to do for us I think I see an Android device in my near future. I hope i’m wrong because I would preffer to stick with WebOS.

Well the UK one @ £399 comes in a little cheaper in dollars ($650 ish). Let’s see what HP offer it at on their website in the US. It had better be soon too

    hi,
it’s weird, that you cannot access the pre 2 page of the eurostore directly from the postal page. Could the page be faked? Where does the link come from?

  • Thomas

Sorry I mean the portal page/frontpage of the palm-shop

The Pre 2 is just too expensive for what it is. I love webos but even I wouldn’t pay that much for what is a last gen device. I’ll only really get one if it comes down in price. The W7 phone is £10 cheaper for the handset only, from o2. Bring the cost down HP and i’ll then take one of your hands. :)

I’ll just bet that HP almost didn’t release the pre2 at all. It must have been quite a debate. You know this phone was done up before hp finished the purchase of palm. I love my Pre – and would upgrade to a Pre2 if it was 4G and on sprint. I am excited about 2011 and am glad my pre is in great shape. I’ve warned sprint that the next webOS device to come out I am getting. So if Sprint doesn’t carry it I’ll be ending my time with them. ;-)

We need to hear about phones and apps we can use, anything else is a waste of time.
