Evernote to Receive Updates “Every Couple of Months”

By: , 1/10/2011 3:53 pm | 9 comments

It seems as if the webOS future may be brightening in the eyes of developers. Not only did the App Catalog manage to hit 5000 official apps for Christmas, but now we have Evernote mentioning that there will be “HP Palm improvements every couple of months.” This news is kind of surprising, given the other data that their team released at the same time. The Evernote user base on Palm devices has reportedly declined 10% in year-to-year statistics, possibly due in part to their previous lack of any updates to the software.

Their tune has changed, though, which we hope will be a sign of more things to come. Evernote is a great way to share notes between multiple user experiences and locations and has proved beneficial to thousands of people. We look forward to whatever updates they may bring in the future but if they are stumped, how about you guys offer what you’d like in the comments? How about offline reading/data?

HP Palm, Window Mobile (not Windows Phone 7) and web-based mobile usage is declining, but we’re not giving up on these platforms. A brand new Windows Phone 7 version of Evernote will launch this winter and we’re rolling out HP Palm improvements every couple of months. It’s probably not even worth saying that iOS and Android are going to continue to get lots of attention from our developers.

Finally, I like Evernote but it was starting to feel like abandon-ware. It’s good to see that their webOS app will be getting updates. I also have an iPod Touch and comparing the two apps, it’s not even funny how much better the iOS version is than the webOS version.

Look at the last line of the quote I included: “It’s probably not even worth saying that iOS and Android are going to continue to get lots of attention from our developers.” Sad truth :(

My suggestion would be the most important one in regards to gaining new users of this app…. Read your suggestions given in the app catalogue reviews for the evernote app! There is absolutely no way I would download this app with such terrible reviews. Things like slowing the phone to a crawl, crashing phones, file support issues, lack of “just type”, and only a 3 star rating with over 500 reviews are going to make me pass on an app everytime.

I moved to using the great “Notes” app by Inglorious Apps. I haven’t found it lacking for anything I need from my notes app. If I ever needed real-time-and-automatic-sync to a web portal, I might consider adding Evernotes to the mix, but it’s unfortunate that they dropped the ball for so long…

Thank you. Thank you very much

I’ll second that! Notes rocks! Thank you!

Yeah. Sorry, but I’m not going to download and install such a paltry application until it is fixed. This was *the worst* app I had ever used in webOS. No other app has ever caused my phone to turn to garbage like Evernote did.

Evernote is a great app on several platforms but I had significant problems with it on webOS.

I haven’t had problems running Evernote on my Palm Pre Plus. It has worked fine. I would like to see some much needed enhancements such as the ability to filter notes by notebook and by tags. That is a basic feature that is on every other version of Evernote. I love the concept of the app as it syncs my notes from my laptop, desktop PC and phone. No other note apps that I’ve run across for WebOS does this. I love WebOS and desperately want to stay with it, but there will come a day soon where apps will drive my phone decision ahead of my love for WebOS. I hope that HP gets its act together very soon and app developers are convinced to continue to invest in the platform.
