Exclusive: HP Internal Memo reveals all sorts of surprise guests for tomorrow’s announcements

By: , 2/8/2011 2:24 pm | 94 comments

Whoa! Another internal memo just leaked out onto the intertubes. You think the Topaz is big news? Pfft.

Apparently HP/Palm is really pulling out all of the stops for the big announcement and they are bringing out all the stars to help celebrate.

Running down the list…let’s see here.

  • During the opening monologue, Betty White will be joining Phil McKinney to announce that they are releasing a new phone for the popular JitterBug service.
  • Dr. Oz will then come up on stage and talk about how the Topaz and Opal will revolutionize how doctor’s look cool when talking to patients (Dan is particularly excited about this one)
  • Joining Netflix and Hulu CEO’s will be on stage next with Robert Pattinson talking about the importance of media on devices
  • Closing out the event will be none other than Justin Bieber who will be very excited to talk about the new phone that is geared towards the younger crowd

There are a few more names of people I don’t recognize…looks like CEOs or whatever. Who cares right?! Bring on the stars!

I can’t wait till the event tomorrow and this news really takes it up a notch.

I wonder if Roy can snag me an autographed picture of Justin…

Thanks for the tip Timmy

flattr this!

    • http://www.webosroundup.com/ David

Think that is what we call a watch. :)

    • BigK

It sure looks like an ugly watch to me. But it must be “cool” cuz the Bieber is wearing it

lol I said the same thing, thanks to vito_a, for clarifying.

Please no one actually think this is real!!

    Notice the Humour tag!!

  • Dude

omg omg omg its the biebs!!!!!111!!!!111!

  • Danielst3

love that you followed up the not so cool internal memo about HP’s new cool factor with Bieber in a members only jacket. You guys really know how to figure out what is not cool. Kind of funny though.

  • Tweller

Dear me. This sucked me right in. I was ready to go dump my pre classic on ebay and buy a meego phone.

    Oh no…

  • TMStage

I kinda thougt it was legit until you mentioned Justin Bieber.

    Well played, sir.

its the event we wait it for so long, and came this “guy/gay” to present some Pre´s?

  • PalmOn

The best thing they can do tomorrow is explain why their “smart phones” cannot sync more than two months ahead. Without that capability, the rest is pointless. Oh well, HP/Palm. Another failure. And that’s right, still no 2.0 on my Sprint Pre. I told you so!

    • http://www.webosroundup.com/ David

Dude…you come to a post like this and talk shmack? Really?

      • PalmOn

Please, then tell me something encouraging. Because, for a smart phone to not be able to sync more than two months into the future is sort of pointless. What’s next–are they going to lose the ability to hit redial on the phone? It’s bad enough that I can’t set a reminder for a calendar even for more than one day in advance. Help me out here? What has happened to the company I once loved to boast about?

        • http://www.webosroundup.com/ David

What Pre 1 has WebOS 2.0 yet? I think you just whine too much. Go do us a favor though. Go buy a freakin iPhone or Droid and leave us alone.

      • Nicholas

Well said knowbody likes wieners boo hoo dude

  • http://www.facebook.com/bcmorales1 Brandon Clay Morales

IDK just cus it says humor doesn’t mean its not true after humor it says news. And this is believable last time I heard Bieber had a pixi and loved it. The only thing I am concerned about is it doesn’t sound like enough announcements. It sounds like two phones and two tablets. I was hoping for at least 3 phones, 2 tablets, a netbook and a printer plus accessory’s.

  • PalmOn

I’ll bet you Bieber can set an alarm on his watch for more than two months into the future. If so, and if he wears it while he carries his HP/Palm phone, he might make it to his concerts on time–even the ones that are scheduled for past two months into the future.

    • vara411

Wow. I guess you’re really upset about that, huh. Whatever it takes to help you vent, good buddy. We’re here. :p

  • Raun

These jokes masquerading as news are as old as webos 1.45. I am 24 hrs away from getting an evo. The hp/palm union is perfect on it’s face if we were talking HP of 15 years ago and PALM from 2 yrs ago. Now it is simply make or break time for the consumer adoption. Cool is going to mean “cool for a doctor’s office” or “cool for an engineer.” If they can truly pull off the launch of a new phone or line of phones in a secretive fashion, maybe there os hope. If I have to wait until June, the train left the station a long time ago, and I’m taking the next one; even if it’s not webos.

Jitterbug? I thought those phones were supposed to be “simple”, sure webOS has a much more simple UI than android but I can’t see older people picking up a webOS phone & using all it’s features.

This would tie in to his (justin biebers) movie never give up or whatever it is. I mean he waited like 6 years to reach his dreams, and us Sprint webOS users have waited a lifetime (almost) for a webOS phone that isn’t even guaranteed to come tomorrow.

The fact this post is SO ambiguous as to it’s actual nature (news or not), though not true, is just poor use of a well-read blog. My RSS reader’s column needs less clutter anyway.

    • http://www.webosroundup.com/ David

Sorry to see you go, but seriously? It is called humor.

I am fascinated by the people who thought that this was real even for a second. Really? Betty White? That didn’t tip you off?

If you have read this blog for more than a few minutes you would have gathered that we do this out of love and fun. We break news when we can…when there isn’t any we try to have fun. Come along and smile a bit.

Now tomorrow on the other hand…we will be rockin’ the real news.

And just in case anyone was of any doubt, if we put humor as the category, then it probably isn’t real…just sayin’

      • http://ignitionunlimited.com/ IGNTNUNLMTD

I realized I was being a dick and changed my response. No, of course I didn’t remove this feed from Socialite.

Betty White… hmmm. Maybe it’s because I was born in 1990 (young enough not to know of her but old enough to hate Justina) that this up and fooled me. :-/

Oh well, I suppose you deserve massive props, you got a lot of people good!

Ok, I’m learning but you had me hook, line and sinker :)

  • PalmOn

I love how people on this site get all bent out of shape when you mention where HP/Palm falls short. And they are falling very, very short of having what I need. While I can only speak for myself, I do hope HP/Palm is able to wow me tomorrow, and tell me how I can head straight over to my local Sprint store and pick up one of their new phones that can sync beyond two months, can give me calendar reminders more than one day prior to a calendar event, and has Adobe Flash. Is there anyone reading this site that thinks that is too much to ask for of a smart phone in this day and age? Shall I mention that virtually every new smart phone coming out on the market has these capabilities, and has had them for quite some time now (except apple with regard to Flash).

    • http://www.webosroundup.com/ David

Sorry, but we are all fans here…if you come to troll you probably will get a response. Just kinda how it works.

      See above.

Oh. I didn’t realize this is a joke site. FYI, kidz, the category when reading this “article” on the Palm Pre itself is “News” not “Humor, News” as it shows up when looking at it on a computer. I’m with you, den! The webosroundup mission statement doesn’t say anything about it being a joke site. What, are you guys working with the Fox network?

Monty Burns no; Jenna Jameson yes, and maybe we can get a That 70′s show water tower leaf. Just watching how Kelso broke his arm. I might have to create one.

So HP you want me to spend money on something new when you can’t or won’t update what I already have. I’m stuck with this over clocked Pixi plus it’s not a bad phone just not that smart, what I do have is a mobile hotspot and I can get any tablet out there. Right now I have webOS 1.4.5 and we all know what it can and can’t do. I don’t need nor want webOS to be my new hobby. Feb 9 will be your turn to talk let’s all hope it’s as good as the hype.

  • http://sorli.com sorli

Yes, I was equally annoyed at first, since I like most people expect honest info and news from webOSroundup. Either way, thankfully they still have their sense of humor and you got to do something to fill in the boredom that’s set in waiting till tomorrow.

Actually, thinking of that…how bout giving us a breakdown schedule wise for tomorrows events and where you and the webOSroundup team will be hanging out for all the news and information? Either way, thanks for the news and look forward to more useful info tomorrow. Sorli…

  • Dave81j6

There may not be a better way of drawing the attention of tweeners right now than Bieber, good move HP/Palm. Hope all this hype produces mostly yays from the crowds, which will include those of us interested in the everyday functionality of a phone and not teen pop stars.

I was just reading the the memo that Stephen Elop sent to his Nokia employees where he talks about eco systems. I’m glad HP chose to go this way however this (tomorrow) will be the deciding factor as to wether we (WebOs) lives or burns. Whoever Nokia picks as a partner will determine which platform survives platform and the way I see things, there’s a good chance if that it will be Microsoft (they still have a large reach) but, eventually Google will overtake the world. We still will see WebOs and Microsoft around but with small markets and perhaps exclusive to businesses and corporations. The consumer market be played amongst Apple and Google but Google will prove to be, not a superior platform but, more extensive (reach more people).

    • Ben

Think about it this way, you have your Rolls Royce of the world, there out there and not everyone has one but there built very well with extreme care and precision, then you have the the Toyotas and Honda’s Ford’s etc. There built good and everyone everywhere has one. So you will have the very well built OS’s (WebOs, Apple) and then you have the ones that are built good (Google and maybe Microsoft)

    • Joseph Ziehm

The consumer market thrives on gaming and multi-tasking I know this for a fact. We have a growing stable of hardcore developers and we are expanding.

      • Ben

I agree with you right now but eventually you will have a Super Ecosystem which will be in everything and everywhere… And every OS out there will need to, in some way, depend on it. For access to the consumer market.

  • http://www.facebook.com/bcmorales1 Brandon Clay Morales

Wow yeah ya got me. To be honest the only person that sounded out of place is Betty White, all though you have to admit she is a pritty funny and hip lady. Bieber was believable even though it makes most of us cringe I am sure he could sell anything to the tween girls. Hulu and Netflix well that was just wishful optimism on my part.
