[Video Contest] What would you do for a Pre 2?

Wanna free Pre 2? How bad do ya want it? That bad?!

Okay, webOS community… then it’s time to put your “money” where your mouth is…
Put up or shut up…
Poop or get off the pot…

That last one a bit much? My bad.

Ok, so HP was gracious enough to let us have a few extra Pre 2′s  during their Think Beyond event and they are really burning a hole in our proverbial pockets so we are having a contest!

The Pre2′s are unlocked GSM devices, but if you want, you can work with our ninjas and we can “Sprinterize” it for you.

Whatchu gotta do!

To enter, we need you to create a video that shows us how badly you want a Pre 2 and send it to us. All videos will be placed in one of two categories: Funniest and Most Original.

The top 3 in each category will be selected as finalists. The finalists will then be put to a popular vote and the top video in each category will get a Pre 2! The video with the most votes will be crowned Grand Champion and win an extra $100.

All of the finalists will win a unique t-shirt created by our fabulous designers.

Rules and Regulations

Time for the nitty gritty…

  • [Update] – Contest is open to anyone who wants a GSM unlocked phone…we ship worldwide!
  • Videos must be rated PG and be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes long.
  • Videos must be in English (sorry…it is the only language we speak. Well, Dan speaks something else, but we think he is just babbling)
  • [Update] – While this is technically a video contest, a few have asked to make a “radio commercial” instead…we are totally fine with that.
  • All submissions must be sent to us. They do not count if you post them up on YouTube or another site yourself.
    • If your movie is less than 50 megs, feel free to email it to us directly at [email protected]
    • For larger files (over 50 megs) we recommend using a free account on TransferBigFiles, DropBox, Gigasize, or the like. You can email us to tell us how to get it.
  • Videos must be original.
  • Videos must be sent to us by midnight (eastern), Thursday March 31st.midnight (Eastern), Friday April 8th.

Small Print

Now of course there has to be a bit of fine print…but we will keep it as simple and to the point as possible.

  • The creator of all submissions will retain control and full ownership of the video and its contents; however, by submitting it to webOSroundup you are granting us a license to use the video anywhere on the site for any reason.
  • webOSroundup retains the right to refuse a submission for any reason. If you are refused, we will send you an email letting you know why.
  • The obvious…this contest is void where prohibited by law and all winners are responsible for any taxes.
  • We encourage the ambitious out there to submit as many entries as they want, but you can only win once!

      Yup, the phone is unlocked GSM so isn’t tied to any carrier or anything. If you want it, we will ship it to you.

    For anyone in the UK who wants to get the Pre2 on contract, Expansys.com are doing it unofficially through Vodafone. You get the phone for free and buy a 18 or 12months contract. The 2year contract works out at about £9 per month (inc data) when taking out the cost of an unlocked pre2. I think it is actually a very good deal, though personally I wish Pre3 was out.
    What I can’t understand is why Palm are not refering to this on their UK site so it gets more coverage, and instead sell the Pre2 directly, and point to O2 for the surely now unwanted and unloved Pre Plus and Pixi Plus – which are not even being sold by O2 anymore. Terrible.

    Watch out: Unlocked GSM device does NOT mean access to the paid apps catalogue! This is different from country to country. As I painfully found out recently.

      For the record, my unlocked GSM Pre2 on AT&T has full App Catalog access, and properly “Sprintified” Pre2′s should not have a problem either. But thanks for bringing this up and everyone should be aware of this.

        20 minutes at the sprint store and now 20 min later and my new pre minus is almost completetly restored. I may just find every bad comment I’ve made since Feb 7th and take them back on video.

    Stupid Question: Unlocked GSM would NOT work on Verizon right? Verizon is CDMA? Or is unlocked GSM able to work on any network.
