webOS 3.0! … Oh and 2.2!

By: , 2/9/2011 2:54 pm | 18 comments

Well it seems if you read the fine print at the bottom of the new product pages for the Veer, Pre3, and TouchPad you will see the following:

Requires TouchPad with webOS 3.0 and Pre3 or Veer with webOS 2.2 or higher, both products having same HP webOS account. Viewing URL web page content requires data connection via Wi-Fi or cellular connection.

Now we expected 2.2. Hell, we even expected a tablet version of webOS. We guess that is now confirmed as 3.0 is obviously for the TouchPad. Wonder if it will ever find its way to phones too? Guess we will all find our soon enough.

  • Jimmy

This sucks we got left out I guess the old devices died with palm

    • Jeff

HP palm name should be killed today. We all need to go out and buy androids and iphones. Thanks for broken promises hp!

Why not homebrew and re-badge!? Were allowed! Maybe someone will manufacture a replacemnt back cover for the devices with Palm written on. Anyway, sad the name has gone – but tobe honest we all still call them palm webos whatevers – and HP do now own the IP, Dev & Kit.

Has anyone else tried the ‘notify me’ link on the TouchPad product page? I did. It doesn’t seem to work. ‘Submit’ doesn’t do anything. Whoops. (again)

wait till s u m m e r…. What happen to rumors of ‘you’ll be able to get devices soon after the announcement’? I think they have a repeat of 2009. Announce early, then wait 5 months. I read a recent analysis of how that hindered the ecosystem. I know it could be argued that version iphone news would have gravitated to any HP date, but as it is now I see today as ‘yelling into the wind’ and now wait. Seems like HP should have waited till March / April for this event.

    • http://twitter.com/Primlar Primlar

You may end up getting another update… eventually… unless you’re a Bell customer in Canada. Then you’re hooped.

      • Joseph Ziehm

Nope, the website does not mention webos 2.0 for either. Screw HP

  • JDM
