App of the Day: ComicBookBin

By: , 3/22/2011 1:57 pm | 5 comments

For you comic book fans out there, a new app popped up in the catalog to help feed your comic book addictions in the shape of ComicBookBin for webOS (Toon Doctor, Inc. -Free). ComicBookBin repacks the website by the same name so you can take it with you on your webOS device. The app grabs the latest articles from the website in full color, and lists them with the newest near the top. Tip the phone sideways, and the article list displays as a scrollable panorama of the article’s lead graphic- a neat addition and something I’ve not seen before in an app. It’s a bit Exhibition-like, without the need of the Touchstone to activate it.

A navigation bar at the bottom of the main scene activates two other handy features within the app. Tap the middle “tent” button, and you’re presented with a list of comic book conventions taking place around the world. Selecting any convention from the list allows you to place it in your calendar. The third “compass” button will help you search for comic book stores near your location using Location Services. Tap on a result, and the store’s location is shown in Google Maps.

The ComicBookBin website on its own is a great resource for any comic book junkie, made even better with the portability of an app for webOS. Get your comic book fix and grab ComicBookBin today!

flattr this!

Nnnnothing bbbbetter than a spandex update. As a semi-retired superhero I always appreciate apps that are My Kinda Facebook.
