App of the Day: Touchstone Weather

By: , 3/31/2011 11:58 pm | 7 comments

Now that the 2.x SDK is available to the masses, apps that take advantage of the new features found in webOS are starting to pop up in the catalog. One of the features that we are starting to see developers utilize more is Exhibition. This makes us super happy because we can now interact with our webOS devices in ways we could not before.

Touchstone Weather by Jason Teplitz is exactly what its name implies; a weather app used while on the Touchstone. Simply put your phone on the Touchstone and your phone shows you the current weather condition outside. It’s simple, good looking, and easy to read from across the room. There are now a couple apps that do this, but this app was the first we had the pleasure of using. So today we tip our hat to Jason Tiplitz and give his app Touchstone Weather a big App of the Day from us here at webOSroundup. Keep up the good work Jason!

I have to say I first checked this for “aprilsfoollessness”. Well, I have been having a device for checking theoutside weather since… 1965? It is called a window! And I am sûre it was invented before.
Well, Ok, I know it is uncool to make fun of y’all cubicle slaves, but on this side of thé “pond” we are more fortunate.

Actually I’m not a cubicle slave at all. I work 8 hours a day outside repairing a train. So…whenever I’m not at work I don’t want to be in the hot Florida sun anymore than I have to.

Dear Dominique: The advantage of having it as software tho is that with a minimal tweek to fool the GPS you can have the thing give you readings all year round for places you don’t actually go to all year round, like Orlando. So if you are in Wisconsin in January you can pretend that it’s warm…. somewhere… in your tiny little cubicle. Hahahaha. You are SO right, but only if you are kinda sane. And until they let the Germans use it (see above comment) we KNOW there is probably a flaw in the gearbox somewhere.

I cannot get it to install on my HP touchpad I paid and no one will answer my emails to the app maker how to install this thing or how to get a refund
