HP now selling the Verizon Pre 2 for FREE!

By: , 3/9/2011 9:54 am | 25 comments

How much would you expect to pay for the amazing, incredible, will make your children behave better Verizon Pre 2?

$199?! That would be close to what it is actually worth, but NO!

$49? My boss would have my head if I told you we would sell it for that, but NO!

$29? We would be crazy to sell it at that price, but we are friggen INSANE!!

$0?! Did you say you wanted it for free? Well lock me up and call me Sally. Sign up for a two year contract and it is yours!!

Now I doubt that the conversations at HP went like that, but I like to think it did.

HP has just lowered the price of the Verizon Pre 2 on their direct store to a crazy $0.

At this rate they may give you $50 if you pick one up next week.

Thanks for the tip Terry!

New hardware is getting released on the 14th, mock my words! Lol

    • JDM

Did you mean to type “Mock”?

  • DCIFER

I think the Pre3 is closer to being released than what we think. A selling frenzy to get the old out (Pre2) so they’re not wasted in warehouses…IMO. Come on Pre3 on Sprint (with dice in hand)!!!!

  • Steve

This JUST got tempting. If the Verizon Pre2 already had webOS 2.1 I might not be able to hold myself back.

  • Capt4chris

I like this kind of post much more than when you say the Pre 3 will be $800+.

This generates much more positive buzz than speculative, negative procong rumors.

Are you in the Viet Cong?

Open your eyes, the price of this outdated device has dropped from 200 to 0 in a matter of weeks. Soon HP will pay you to take these crappy phones off their hands. There’s a reason 3.2% of smartphone users use HP/Palm.

    • Matt C.

That’s what you get when you are releasing products without thinking. They should have canned the Pre 2 development a long time ago and released a proper upgrade (without the Veer).

Umm…if you actually read comments from those who have actually gotten the Verizon Pre 2, it apparently isn’t a crappy phone at all. Certainly the portrait slider is not for everyone, but, then again, neither are slabs.

Wow, thankfully Leo is realizing what a failure it was to keep the pricing points of the Palm marketing firm. The realization is that HP may soon fire and clear the rows of all the marketing screw ups. With the various batches of unresolved issues of Pixi+ being offered for free Leo may clean up faster.

In weeks he said. And so I’m hopeful for pre3 even if sprint employees tell me nothing, how awesome thinking that would be to flock to sprint to pick up our new pre 3. If it doesn’t cone to sprint, I have to say I might have to pick up a ipad2, I so want a pre 3 and touch pad so they would work well together.
    Not an ipad.

If I wouldn’t loose my free hotspot, I might do this.

  • Wafflehaus

I thought Verizon was still offering the free hotspot. Is that not the case with the Pre3 and Veer? I’d jump on this if I were eligible, but I’m locked in til Dec.

If you try to order the Pre2 they want to charge you 20 bucks for hotspot. I am assuming it will be that for the Pre3.

I should call them and ask if I upgrade if I can keep it for free. I am due for an upgrade in June.

If you do homebrew, mytether and freetether are two incredibly easy free tethering apps. I have Sprint with no mobile hotspot option, paid or otherwise, and I’ve been able to tether for more than a year for free with mytether. I hear freetether is even better.

This is all well and good but I’m not switching carriers. If the Pre3 doesn’t come to sprint by the beginning of summer I’ll be done with them for a while. My 20 month old Pre is still working but it won’t be much longer and I’m one of those that wants new at least every 2.

My upgrade s n august bt the last with verizon on the 18 mth upgrade so I will either get the Pre3 unless Hp anounces other phones then maybe wait uness there is a deal with the touchpad

I went into a Verizon store today to see in person the Pre2 (i currently have Pre Plus). A worker came over to me immediately and told me NOT to buy that phone because it, and the company who made it were terrible and that the phone had “lots and lots of problems”. He was heavily pushing Droid or iPhone. Interesting.

  • XViolentSaintx

heeeeyyyyy….its free cause it looks exactly like the last pre that didn’t sell! Great idea!
