Verizon to Carry HP Pre 3?

By: , 4/22/2011 4:00 pm | 112 comments

Electronista is reporting that Verizon Wireless let slip during a conference call regarding its quarterly reports that they will be carrying the iPhone 5 and that it will be a world phone (dual CDMA/GSM phone). Now we here at webOSroundup remember hearing about a world phone, one we have more interest in than an iPhone 5, the HP Pre 3 that is slated to launch this Summer.

What we have yet to hear about the Pre 3 is who will carry it. This may just give us a hint, because Verizon currently has world phones and they seem to be snatching up as many world phones as they can get their hands on.

If Verizon gets the Pre 3, will you buy it? And if you’re on Sprint, are you going to move over to Verizon to get the Pre 3? Or will you wait for carrier news anxiously hoping for a Sprint release?

flattr this!

I’m not confirming this because i don’t work for Verizon but i talked the manager the other day and asked if they were getting the Veer/Pre 3, he said “We’re ‘supposed’ too” with a sorta nod and wink. I asked if that was confirmation he said ” what do you think?” nodding his head yes. So i guess they are for sure. I was sorta wishing it would be on sprint though.

Just because you got a nod and wink from a VZ salesperson doesn’t mean they’ll be the only carrier getting HP products. I’m not sure anyome will be getting them no real announcement for anything for anyone. Just seems luke smoke and mirrors

I have a pre- & I love webos. Sprint read these comments because they tell something. Bring on the Pre 3!!!!!!!!

  • Ken

When I had sptint I was still paying about $200.00 for all 4 phone I had to switch to verizon because coverage where I moved to wasn’t good on sprint and did not have to pay for etf either now I pay about the same what would stink is if the Pre 3 and touchpad does noy come to verizon then I would have a decision to make upgrade to Pre 2 or get another type of os phone

Sprint Is Not Getting The Pre 3 But What They Are Getting Will Blow The World Away. It Will Be Released Exclusively To Sprint In August And Will Be H/P’S Gift To The WebOS Customer Base That Has Supported WebOS From The Beginning. It Is Also The Only One Of It’s Kind That Has Ever Been Released By Any Developer Of The Mobile Industry In The World Up To Date….Sprint Will Receive The Veer And This Other Out Of This World Device…..

Widely known as the HP tOOOthiwOD, and pronounced like “toothy wad” (like with a bar above the a in wad, a hang over from the way Pre has a bar on its e) (and notice the manufactacturer’s preferred styling of the capitalized and the small letters), this will be the first HP webOS device available to consumers which will maybe be OTA upgradable to an email compliant webOS 4.x standard, which will be released “in coming months” after the hardware. Caveat emptor.

Just moved to Verizon for the Pre 2. I took advantage of the free Pre 2 and accessories. I gave up on Sprint after 10 years to stay with the Pre. I had a Pre minus before. Love the Pre 2, not crazy about Verizon calling plan prices.

  • Darkgift

    Yeah…I’ll switch. After 10 (2- +q Sprint, there’s finally a phone/os I would leave for.

Waiting for Pre3 . Have preplus w/verizon. Love mobile hotspot. Contract up, trying to wait and not cave & get the pre2. Thinking of duct tape for preplus just to keep mobile hotspot

  • Djwar

so sick and tired of palm/hp and their bull. Just gonna wait till my pre- is dead and I am switching to droid. Hp has taken too long and been too secretive about a phone that is going to be out dated by its release. So goodbye and good ridance to HP/palm. :-P

    • James

I agree that HP is taking a long time to release the WebOs devices I think that’s due to the fact they are starting there apps. from scratch, and don’t want to release a smart phone with limited amount of apps, these days most people will not buy a smart phone unless it has a bunch of apps. No matter which os they are running on.

      • Joseph

Maybe they are having supply side issues. That’s their excuse for the Slate.

      Amen brother

    Welcome to Verizon!

pretty sure AT&T is getting it, not Verison…

I think we all need to come to grips with the fact that Sprint will not get the Pre 3. I took my original pre in for service last week asked two CSR and the laughed when I asked about the Pre 3. Nexus S is the next sprint release. It’s almost May no announcement,my Pre is on it’s last leg. As much as I love WebOs I may not have a choice.

    • Joseph

You always have a choice. Be a man. Walk. Breath. Say toodles to BS. Do right things… just because they are right and you can do them.

Here’s a thought. Since the Pre 3 looks so much like the Pre and Pre 2, I wonder if the trick of switching the com board will work to use the Pre 3 with Sprint?

I doubt I will buy it. The lack of applications is not being addressed properly. When you still can’t find common apps like twitter, skype, and microsoft office tools in the app store, but instead get worthless garbage like fart apps and backgrounds when you run searches for every day apps, it doesn’t seem that HP is taking this seriously enough

I am a current Sprint customer with the original Pre.  If Sprint does not offer the Pre3 and Verizon does, I WILL switch my carrier!  Although Sprint has improved a lot in the past few years, I see no reason to stay with them if they do not offer the device(s) I want.
