HP TouchPad on Sale at Staples in July [EXCLUSIVE]

By: , 5/31/2011 5:40 pm | 24 comments

By now we’re hearing about release dates of the HP TouchPad cropping up all over the place, from Wal-Mart to OfficeMax. Well, add another major retailer to the mix: an anonymous tipster has informed us that the TouchPad will be offered at Staples stores, on or around July 17th. We have no word on pricing, and at the tipster’s request to protect his/her identity, we cannot show the log that was sent to us (no worries, it’s legit).

All in all though, we’re definitely getting to see the “scale” that HP spoke so much about… here’s hoping we get to see much more.

[Thank you, anonymous!]

flattr this!

    Awesom-O.

(I think it was staples I went into two weeks ago) They had the Playbook and another tablet out on display for people to play with; it was the first time I have seen the playbook and boy was it clunky: I couldn’t figure out how to do anything! The point of this post is to say that having the Touchpad out for people to play with will be awesome! Didn’t someone here once say that once someone actually plays with WebOS they fall in love?

Is this a U.S.A only staples or Canada as well?. I’m itching to hear any news for us Canadians.

Our tipster could not elaborate, though HP does have sales channels in Canada as well… would be surprised not to see it offered there.

I expected Office Max and Stables, but Wal-mart was the surprise to me.

Wow,  this “scale” that HP is talking about is grand.

yeah it sure is, for selling a Wifi only Tablet, let’s wait and see how wide a Smartphone or a 3G Tablet is going to be.

Best Buy already has a big page up for it, as does amazon too… Guessing BB will be the place to get one launch day (if it is Sunday, getting one delivered that am would be impossible from amazon…)

I love webOS, but I’ve decided to pass on the TouchPad and recently purchased an iPad instead. Why? The apps. It’s as simple as that. The webOS app catalog is really quite awful and is showing no signs of growth or improvement. And while people argue that the overall webOS experience more than makes up for the app deficit, I simply disagree.

For myself, the apps are an integral part of the entire experience. So much so that I’m willing to compromise on usability and multitasking if it nets me a more robust catalog of games, utilities and productivity apps. After all, I spend most of my time in the apps, not the launcher. I suspect many others would agree with me and that’s why I think, as good as the webOS experience is, there’s just no way it’s good enough to overcome the many shortcomings of the platform as a whole.

I hope the TouchPad sells well, I really do. But it’s just not the right product for me.

If you need a tablet right now then an ipad might be a better choice although I’d go with an android device. For me I don’t need a tablet and would break my heart to spend that money on anything other than webOS. Ease of use makes a world of difference I believe. Many apps are swell but I can’t see myself at this point sacrificing other things for a long list. I’m not going to be in line on launch day , but I will be watching hoping my lack of need will subside to my want. I have faith HP can and will catch up.

Did they make changes to webOS 3.0?

In the Pic above the launcher icon looks different & the search button is on the far left of the launcher instead of at the top where Just Type used to be.Interesting…

The apps are cool but w/ a touchpad you can just about do anything and have fun doing it.

If I could utilize my mlb subscription and/or sirius subscription and/or netflix subscription, that would be great. I can’t, so why would I buy it? I have hundreds invested already in content I can’t access with a touchpad. Hp, you are a total failure in the development community at the moment.

I hope Pa… HP will also launch it magnificent webOS devices in Holland!

Waited two years for the Palm Pre, later the Pre Plus (and didn’t came here). Still no sign of the Pre 2 here, only one internet based telephone company has them on “sale” for 550 Euro :S Got mine from ebay – with shipping and the custom tax (?) – for about 420 euro. Too bad the paid app still doesn’t work in Holland!

webOS truly rocks but HP has to expand big time!
