webOSRadio #47: The HP Veer is Heer!

By: , 5/18/2011 8:20 am | 10 comments

Click to play podcastAt long last, we’re starting to see hardware from HP’s Think Beyond event released to the masses, starting with the teeny-tiny Veer 4G on AT&T, released on May 15. David, Dan, and Roy have all sampled the Veer and weigh in their 2 cents on the device. webOS Radio newbie George Salcedo graces us with his presence… and his very own Veer 4G that he bought less than 24 hours before our podcast!

So listen in to our special edition broadcast of webOS Radio, where we talk about anything and everything having to do with the HP Veer. We also have some very interesting and fun webOSroundup news to share at the end of our podcast including our HP Veer giveaway, so make sure to listen to that!

… Of course there’s also potty humor and the breaking news that David has worn pants backwards his entire life.

ENJOY!

NFC range is only 20cm, also NFC is a security risk because for one it automatically connects to any connection there is, compared to Bluetooth where you need a profile, Also it’s a Bluetooth Profile and not a
Palm Profile to communicate between devices.

Ah! Thanks for the info and correction.

It does require that both devices use the same Palm Profile though, as noted on the Palm website: “5. Requires HP TouchPad with webOS 3.0 and Pre3 or Veer with
webOS 2.2 or higher, both products having the same HP webOS account.
Viewing URL web page content requires data connection via Wi-Fi or
      cellular connection.” page: http://www.palm.com/us/products/pads/touchpad/

But yes, it does use Bluetooth to transfer data between the two devices and the coil is used only to tell the TouchPad and Pre 3 that they are supposed to initiate a transfer.

Okay my last comments had to be allowed by the moderator and i am not waiting, so i try again in a different language and i have forgotten most if my words but i try again, This is a bunch of starts with a S and hit, Nobody will buy this Crap, for one HP will advertise touch to share and of course not going to
mention that we need the same HP profile, people will buy it and then return it to the store, because nobody
told them it needs to be on the same HP Profile, and to top it off Google Android is offering the same thing
and that works on different phones, but Sorry i don’t care how great WebOS is or how good HP is with there
Developers, but this below kindergarten thinking needs to stop, otherwise WebOS will be remembered as
the OS that could be, but fail because of incompetence, but thanks for pointing out the Fine Print about
Touch to Share it surly change my View in it, and i did not say it in the last post, but also asking myself
if HP is even Capable now to bring WebOS to the masses, and personally i think Rubenstein need to
be let go, and change of management is needed one who knows how to get things done right and
        has some common sense.
