The Return of Docs To Go for the HP TouchPad? (UPDATE: Nope. Mistake.)

By: , 6/22/2011 11:18 pm | 23 comments

Well what do we have here? HP has uploaded a photo gallery of the TouchPad to their Facebook page showing the TouchPad in various angles much to the delight of over 568 “Likes” as of this writing. Sure, we’ve seen it all before except for one minute detail that caught us a little off guard.

We couldn’t help but notice a familiar icon on one of the slides that we hadn’t seen in a while: Documents To Go. As a matter of fact, we weren’t expecting to see it all considering DataViz killed development of the app for webOS back in September of 2010. It’s a sure bet the graphic may be the result of a sleepy eyed graphics designer (or was it??) but what we do know is that QuickOffice is a sure bet on the TouchPad come July 1; It filled the gap Docs To Go left behind. Still, we couldn’t help but nitpick a little considering we’re so close to launch.

But who knows? Maybe HP (or DataViz for that matter) had a change of heart? Is QuickOffice out the door to be replaced by Documents To Go? Perhaps not, but we’d sure like to get our grimy little hands on one to see for ourselves!

UPDATE! HP has let us know that this graphic was indeed an error on their part, and that an old screenshot render was used in that graphic. They apologize for any confusion this caused and wanted to make it clear HP is working closely with QuickOffice going forward. Questions? Good.

flattr this!

This was the same picture used during their Thing Beyond event.  It’s Quick Office.  Docs to Go is gone.

Yeah, this is probably just a general image of the interface. Wouldn’t bet on it.

I don’t think it is the Think Beyond picture. The app catalog logo is the HP one but remember, it only turned blue 2 or 3 months ago.

Dataviz got bought by RIM, RIM already Copied WebOS a la CopyBook, There is no way RIM would allow there software to go on a Touchpad, except it’s a Trojan Virus to get more stuff for them to steal from HP, but they way things looking with CopyBook they will get that wrong to, in other words i doubt this is Docs to Go, and just some shots to Dataviz saying “how do you like me now ” with the letter after A and itches

That is an awful render. Not only is Docs to go there, but there’s also a camera app, a YouTube app, a calculator app and the photo & videos are not together.

I still think HP’s SWAT Teams and R&D will make Quickoffice happen by the end of the month.

We still have 10 days!  Sorli…

Simple mistake. And who cares… unless it worked this time.

What a joke the fact that we are making a big deal of one apps only highlights what has been the single weakness of web os NO APPS when compared to iOS and Andriod.

One would not think a single weakness should be such a big deal yet In this case it is an achillies heal.

Lack of apps makes Web OS effectivly USELESS to most of us when copared to the competition.

In 2 yrs we still do not have a Home Dpot or Wal Mart app how do you explain that ?

Two of the largest retailers in the world and you don’t have an app for them WTF

The recent emphesis on business seems to be a good stratagy for HP but what about the consumer market ?

If HP is giving up on us as it appears at least they could have common decency to let people know they are buying into a platform intended for enterprise so us consumers who want our device for things like MLV TV, iheart radio and apps from our fav retailers COULD STOP WASTING OUR TIME WITH HP !

What a whiny person. Go get some other device if you don’t like it. I could also rant and scream about other platforms, but why should I? Go spread your poo somewhere else.
