Todd Bradley runs the $40 billion Personal Systems Group wing of HP, and was on Bloomberg West recently to discuss various things related to HP’s webOS push. In the six minute interview, Bradley answered several key points:
- On the future of webOS: it’s coming to other devices, PCs.
- On webOS licensing: HP would be willing to partner with companies that make devices that HP doesn’t, in order to complete the ecosystem of connected webOS devices. (Bradley threw the poor girl for a loop when he asked her to repeat her question and she’d forgotten it, but the teleprompter saved the day!)
- On competing against the iPad: The TouchPad has differentiating factors such as Touch-to-Share, wireless charging, Synergy, Just Type. In addition, HP is homing in on enterprise and will leverage their 180,000 retail partners worldwide to get the TouchPad to market.
- Competitors say the TouchPad isn’t selling well: “Well look I’m sure our competitors hope it’s not selling well.” HP thus far is happy with the ramp and will continue to invest heavily in the TouchPad’s success. We will also continue to see more advertising across the board and a big push in the enterprise market.
- On Todd Bradley leaving HP: He laughed at this and said he’s thrilled to be doing what he’s doing, but who knows about these things.
Oh and our count hearing “the webOS?” Mr. Bradley did very well and said “webOS” appropriately throughout the interview, save for the very end when he let one slip. Overall, well done, sir. ;-)
