I Say! HP TouchPad Gets Royal Encounter with William and Kate in L.A.

By: , 7/9/2011 8:56 am | 26 comments

In case you missed it, The Royals are in Los Angeles kicking off their U.S. tour. Yesterday they attended a conference of technology venture investors in a Beverly Hills hotel, endorsing London’s place in the world as a major technology hub. After the conference was done, they toured various booths, but stopped briefly to play with the HP TouchPad and listen to a demonstration.

According to the Times, Prince William then Googled “Aston Villa” — the Birmingham Football Club, to go to the team’s home page. Said the HP representative Michelle Price:

“I think they enjoyed the demonstration… They seemed to like that.”

UPDATE: According to the Palm Blog, “the royal couple accepted a charitable donation of two TouchPads for Inner-City Arts, an oasis of learning, achievement and creativity for underserved children in the heart of Skid Row, an organization they will visit on Sunday as part of their California visit.” Cool.

There you have it folks! You may now go about your business (after checking out the gallery below, that is). Happy Saturday!

What is with the obsession with the royal family? I really don’t understand. As for the TP, since the last story about no webOs for Sprint, I won’t be picking one up. Maybe my classic Pre will make it 2 more years and by then maybe HP or Sprint can pull something out of their a**es

    • PalmOn

No webos phone on Sprint = no TouchPad for me. Anyone else? Chime in.

      • http://www.webosroundup.com/ David

The TP has nothing to do with any carrier…

        • BradenFontaine

Why is everything I read followed up with “h Sprint isn’t getting WebOS, oh pity me.’ what, you on your period? Grow up.

      • Zamboni

With my tether ability of my Sprint Palm Pre, the TP is mobile for me. This will also give me time to either convince my wife we should move to AT&T for the Veer or save up for a Pre2 to FrankenPre it onto Sprint.

I feel you I relly want the TP but relly if sprint is not supporting I won’t even bother I spend better on a ipad but the having play with webos will the TP really big the next thing I love my pre but sprint went pussy on HP so what next can HP bring a 4G webos devices and would sprint pick it up the I get the TP.

      • JMWPainter

No thank you, I won’t chime in here be cause this article is about the HP Touchpad meeting the Royal Couple but everyone is welcome to chime in on the appropriate article if you are wanting to mention Sprint and the lack of a Pre3.

  • Vlad

Can’t wait to own one so I can easily transfer files from my hp veer wirelessly

  • DearlyBeloved

To each their own…But I personally have no problem leaving Sprint for WebOS and intend to do so when Pre3 is available.

When is the Royal family going home? Not soon enough! Why doesn’t HP give some like us middle class people one. At least we would really enjoy it.
