Walmart.com Lowers TouchPad Pricing, Adds Bundled Savings (P.S. Better Than QVC)

Thought we were done sharing news on how you can save money on an HP TouchPad? Over the last few weeks we’ve shared news with you regarding Best Buy,  Sam’s Club and Amazon selling the TouchPad below MAP (minimum advertised price). We’ve discovered that Walmart.com is getting in on the TouchPad pricing wars… and they’re bringing out the big guns with some significant discounts.

As you can see from our screen shots, the Walmart.com online price for the 16GB TouchPad is shown at a price of $449.00, while the 32GB is available for $549.00. Compare these prices to the previous-best price via Amazon of $489.99 for the 16GB or $559.52 for the 32GB and you have a decent savings.

They’re not done yet, though! You can save some serious coin if you bundle some accessories in with your TouchPad. Oddly enough bundling raises the price of the TouchPad itself compared to their “standard” price slightly, however the more accessories you add to your bundle the more the price savings of the accessories will make up for it. When you bundle…

  • The HP TouchPad case is only $29.99 (nearly a $20 savings),
  • The TouchStone is only $49.99 (nearly a $30 savings)
  • The Bluetooth Keyboard is only $45 (nearly a $25 savings) and
  • The Travel Charger is only $18 (nearly a $12 savings).

Compare Walmart.com’s price for a 32GB TouchPad, Case and TouchStone to QVC’s identical combo you’ll see that Walmart.com offers you a savings of $21.44  ($637.56 compared to $659) and includes free shipping and handling to the store of your choice. QVC is still offering their 5-months no-interest Easy Pay program with their bundled package, however it comes at a higher initial cost and there’s a $13.97 shipping charge on-top of the $659 sale price.
This new offer appears to be an online exclusive to Walmart.com and not valid in stores. It also appears that this special requires Site-to-Store or at-home delivery; in other words you can’t order online and just go to your local Walmart to pick up your order that same day.

Sunday also marks the last day of the $50 rebate for Pre/Pre Plus and Pixi/Pixi Plus owners meaning you could realistically get a 32GB TouchPad for only $500 (plus Uncle Sam’s cut, of course). In the end, this is still a very significant savings on the TouchPad and all of its accessories regardless of which way you go.

Oh man this is such a sweet deal

It really is a good deal.  I did manage to get my new 32GB model through Amazon.com yesterday for $535.00 from a company called Outlet I think plus 12 dollar shipping.  I got the Touchstone case from Amazon for $41.87 with shipping and the Touchstone doc for $73.04 after shipping.  Still not bad, right?

  • The Highlander

This is such a sweet deal that im going to buy out the whole stock of them at my Walmart store and sell them to the Russian mob! lol

  • The Photographer

Upon hearing about this sweet deal I almost crapped on myself…in front of family no less.

    • Jose Urias

Me too..i want one badly can I borrow $500..

Nice deal, Gary, but just so you know, Uncle Sam doesn’t have a sales tax.  The state you are purchasing in might, however.  :)

What it means is that they’re not selling enough so they have to drop prices to move stock.  You didn’t see ipads price cuts or bundles 3 weeks after release, you saw waiting lists.

or pricing wars when a newer model is arriving, Amazon seemed to be out of stock for a moment yesterday, and today reports only 12 left in stock.  So at the least theyre selling what they expected to sell plus a buffer, at least in amazon which is one of the outlets with dropped prices.

bring that deal to Europe HP

  • Chirurgie

    +1 to that!

Thanks to WebOS roundup I ordered a Touchpad from HP last night and paid $519.99 plus tax(free overnight shipping). When you consider the $50 rebate for Pre owners, that brings the price to $469.99 before tax for a 32gb TP. Thanks to everyone @ webOS roundup!

Is it me or Costco.com doesn’t list the touchpad anymore? Don’t see it from my pre – browser and the search comes up with 0 results

Costco is out of stock on the TouchPad online, but the stores have them.  32GB $579-$100=$479 plus a free case until Aug 4th.   If you add the $50 early adopter rebate http://h30014.www3.hp.com/offers/us/detail.aspx?id=1549  that is a SWEET deal!

Where do you get the extra 100 off? Or is that an instant discount?

All this Price Dropping and pretty early with the Touchpad, including now a 80$ rebate from HP, sounds like the Touchpad is not selling, i Hope they still making the big Marketing Push.

Well if it wasn’t selling it is selling more now. Which is awesome. Though price drops this soon in the game are uncommon it is what HP needs to get these out there. Ipad already had way more iOS users in line where webOS has not so many. It would have been nice if they simply started at a lower price, but I suppose this way people feel they are getting a deal.

Costco seems to be in also. 32gb Touchpad for $479, which is after $100 instant mfg rebate, was seen in store today.
