App of the Day: Sports Live! HD
Not knowing what’s going on with your favorite sports team while your out and about is out of the question for any crazy sports fan. With almost every mobile gadget connected to the Internet in some way, there is no excuse for being left out of the game- even if you’re not there in person. Now if you have a TouchPad around, Sports Live! HD by More Solutions, LLC ($4.99) can feed you up to the minute stats and scores on your favorite teams wherever you are.
Sports Live! came to webOS phones first, and now the app takes full advantage of the TouchPad’s screen and capabilities to put you in the game. Launch the app preferences and setup your favorite teams from all kinds of sports including baseball, football, hockey, soccer, and many others. Once a sport is activated, select it and choose from all the available teams in the different leagues. Once your favorite sports and teams are selected, they will show along the left on the main screen. The center pane shows the various “scoreboards” of stats and scores from each team. Tap on a scoreboard and a Twitter feed highlighting the teams is shown along the right where you can participate with other fans in real time once you integrate your Twitter account. You can also pop out the scoreboard to see the play-by-play of the game on the ESPN.com website. There is no shortage of information to get you involved.
By far, the notification system in the app is its most useful feature. Once the app is launched, an area in the Notification Dashboard is reserved to notify you of upcoming games. Once the game is in play, the dashboard is constantly updated with scores at a set interval of your choosing so you never miss a beat. To top it all off, all of your favorite teams and scoreboards of live games is put in front of you when the TouchPad is in Exhibition mode.
It’s important to note that no live video feeds of live games are available within the app, but having it update scores and stats in real time while you work or play will satisfy any sports junky.
