[Exclusive] Leaked HP Internal “Document”

By: , 10/31/2011 2:14 pm | 70 comments

Want a little peek inside the conference room over in Sunnyvale? We’ve got one. Apparently the number of potential buyers is much greater than we all suspected.

webOSRoundup has received a photo of a list of potential webOS buyers and there are some surprising names on the list that we hadn’t previously heard of.

[Personally, I am pulling for a buyout by Starbucks. Think of the synergy!! - Ed]

Of course, it only takes a quick look to figure out that this “list” isn’t a real list of suitors.

While the simple fact that this whiteboard DOES exist is pretty funny, what bumps it up to downright hilarious is that this whiteboard resides in a certain Developer Relations office in Sunnyvale.

It’s good to know that the folks over at Palm/HP have a sense of humor about all this. At the end of the day, webOS is the operating system we use, but it’s their way of making a living. We at webOSRoundup do not view this photo with anything other than its intent – a way of making light of a less-than-ideal situation. And a pretty flippin’ funny way at that!

Before you ask – yes, we are sure this photo came from within DevRel, and no, we’re not telling where we got it. Just take a look, give it a chuckle, and if you think there might be a name missing, sound off in the comments!

flattr this!

    Tupac FTW!!!

    • http://Bungie.net TheKingOfHalo

By now he would certainly have the money to afford Palm.

      • ironwill989

he bought this palm along time ago, a real long TIME AGO!

    Tupac is still alive!!!!

    My vote goes for RedTube.

WebOS…the most efficient way to juggle multiple porn windows.

    • Alexander10

I miss youporn. Its a shame.

Does it say “Latest Offer - 50.72″ at the top? Ha!

    • http://twitter.com/DeadTechnology DeadTechnology

Actually, it’s $0.72. :D  The dollar sign looks like a 5 in the smaller version ,

    • Anonymous

I actually read that as $0.72

Either way whos going to help me beat that price, I’m good for at least $5

      • http://twitter.com/mark_s_taylor mark_s_taylor

        I’ve got another $5.

        • brendan

          guys its 73 million lol

  • Paul

I heard the Aflac duck and Major Medical pigeon were in a bidding war.

  • http://twitter.com/DeadTechnology DeadTechnology

I was hoping for Geico myself.  Just 15 minutes is all it takes to gain 15% marketshare!

  • http://twitter.com/TrentCruz Trent Cruz

    My favorite is “Meg’s Nana”

    • Owensa42

+1 That’s what popped out to me as well!

  • http://twitter.com/hedami Hedami Software

I think the ones written in blue marker are supposed to be the most likely candidates.

  • Malette

Wow and I thought someone was just joking when they suggested McDonald’s. Seriously though this is a joke, but the sad part is at webOS expense. Personally I’m still rooting for webOS survival and success so making a joke of it’s future only further adds fuel to the fire for those that think or want it dead. Though Walmart seems silly it may actually be ok. I wouldn’t see them making great hardware, but if they took over hardware contracts and sold it exclusively in stores at a lower price then they most certainly have the ad and sell power. Everything else on the list is obviously ridiculous. A lot of those companies are barely surviving alone with the exception of Meg’s nana since I don’t know how she’s doing. All I hope is they would cut her a really good deal. For me though another sad day in webOS land and actually question where something like this fits into this site. Sure it’s webOS “related”, but really? Maybe I’ll write some absurd stuff on a white board and say I’m with HP and/or webOS. Even if it is from within it’s not really a real from within document. I would suggest switching the title of this article too to reflect the joking nature.

    • Technical Jargon

If you can get your absurd stuff inside of HP/Palm, then they may just publish it.

      Until then, lighten up.

I was the one that suggested it. I’ve already discussed the possibility of working WebOS into a Happy Meal @ my corner McD. They seem interested. It is nice to know someone in Sunnyvale took notice… :)

  • http://twitter.com/hedami Hedami Software

Wait is that “precentral.net” at the bottom of the list?  Kinda ironic given the “leak” was on WOR.  :)  I think McDonalds has the biggest chance of making webOS a success.  Free Pre 3 with every Big Mac value meal = instant marketshare

    • http://twitter.com/DeadTechnology DeadTechnology

Of course, why do you think PC has splashed all those blackberry ads everywhere!  Seriously tho, their former EIC is now dating someone in DevRel. Not too much of a stretch :)

      • http://www.arthurthornton.net/ Arthur Thornton

(is now apparently equals “for the past 10+ months” for Adam :P)

        • http://twitter.com/DeadTechnology DeadTechnology

And still is now…. So there :)

          • http://www.arthurthornton.net/ Arthur Thornton

then that would be “is” now wouldn’t it? ;)

          • http://twitter.com/DeadTechnology DeadTechnology

Hey.  I’m just a writer.  I can’t expect my words to make sense.

            Wait…

    • ReneM

No, you get a Veer, but if you supersize you get a Pre 3.

  • Anonymous

Ha! Precentral is at the very bottom left.

  • http://twitter.com/smartwatermelon Andrew Rich

That’s a pretty old picture. There are now around twice as many names on that list. No, I’m not going to post it.

    • Technical Jargon

      Tease…

    • webOS & salsa

and the “latest price” is up to 0.74

  • PalmOn

Buyers for “Palm?” I thought there is no more “Palm” and now just HP webos. It just goes to show you that HP never fully embraced Palm or webos, which is more than likely part of what led to their downfall. It shows HP is trying to lay the blame on someone other than HP.

    • TimmyB

You are correct, HPwebOSon!  (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)  :)

    • DavidW

Actually, I think Palm developers never embraced HP.  Or maybe didn’t feel welcomed.

  • Rbpett

So not funny. I’m done with WebOS. Hello Ice Cream Sammich!

  • JMO

    Tupac!!! All eyes on webOS!

  • Rlshrake

I think Sunbeam would be interested… I could finally upgrade my toaster!

  • Palmdoc

Wait, this is the list when ‘Palm’ was for sale. Now where’s the webOS buyers list :)

  • http://www.twitter.com/comelygrace Katie

HAHA awesome. I think General Mills has potential to do something cool with bringing back surprises in the bottom of cereal boxes in fun webOS-y forms, amirite??

i see good synergy between palm and hooters…

    -bowerbird

  • Jim

and not a single American Standard jok!

  • Soccerinplacer

it’s called brain storming.  that’s all this list looks like to me.

  • Anonymous

my vote is for Meg’s Nana because she’s a good cook and that has to stand for something!

  • Sean

Disney so the synergy between you and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is always together

  • Pierre Rumenigay Chery

redbull/bank of america/Pepsi/and maybe the 7eleven next door

  • nergal

those people who are trying to make this serious please stop, it’s a moment of levity, let it happen

  • Dub94

I think that Mayhem guy from Allstate already bought it!!!

    • Brother Al

      FROLMAO!

  • JoeZiehmer

Hooters and Redtube a growing sense of pride and making us males the “smiling Bob’s” when we use our phone before a “certain” act with a woman and the curtain call of a smoke afterward. Ask your doctor if WebOS is right for you.

  • Sean Taylor

nobody notice Autonomy? That made me laugh.

  • danar

Don’t count out Alfred E. Newman (and would be a dam good CEO too)

  • Kallisti

There seems to be some duplications. NSA, Haliburton and oppressive governments is a bit redundant isn’t it? :)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2L2YA5F7PWLSPGHPH2UU6KPVEM Scott M

Actually, El Pollo Loco makes total sense…that’s exactly how HP has been treating the product and their customers ever since the $1.2 billion spending spree…

  • Brother Al

True, but I think JoeZiehmer has someting there…
RedTube, Hooters, & …there’s also Larry Flynt on the list…
Imagine if they teamed up to buy it, think of the vast untapped possibilities for fresh investment & interest directed into webOS development!
Of course, those new types of warrantee issues may pose to be a sticky problem… & “Refurbished” products… Um, Er, yeah… Nevermind, Perish the thought

  • Racspur1

    Wal-Mart ??? ( just saying ) !!! :-)

  • Ntjoe

I think American Standard is the right choice….they can use it to manage their toilet operating systems….plus selling it to them would complete HP’s efforts to drive WebOS into the crapper.

  • Bob-C

I thought Autonomy was the funniest by far. Palm Source was funny too but should have also listed Access.

  • Deane

China would be a good buyer. They are the only ones with $$

  • Manuel_escribano

    missing NASA going into space….
