What is “webOS Synergy”?

By: , 11/2/2011 7:20 pm | 45 comments

Today we got another little mystery courtesy of Twitter. One of our favorite people, @techjunky79 posted a very curious picture.

Does this mean we have an official Twitter for webOS client coming? Or is this something completely different?

Brad may have been first, but other people are also getting in on the action…

If you click on the little link on the bottom it simply goes to the HP webOS Dev site…

Hmmm…anyone care to speculate? Or perhaps you know something we don’t?

It’s pretty easy. webOS 3.0.5 will include twitter integration. We already know this is coming, and now that both Jeremy and Donald are using it, it’s obviously made its way out for testing by employees.

That, or we’re all being trolled.

    • PalmOn

You realize the image above is on an ipod, right?

      • http://twitter.com/AlexanderJJJJ Alexander Johnston

Doesn’t mean he was the one who sent it…

      • http://twitter.com/glazedfaith Joshua Tewell

You realize the image above is whoever VIEWED the tweet, right?

        • Dutch

That’s not the point.  Any opportunity for PalmOn to criticise is what is most important.  Damn the facts or inconvenient logic…

      • Haze

I realized long time ago you were a troll. You just confirmed another thing I’ve suspected for a long time..

        fool

      • JMWPainter

Wow. You are right. That is an iPod. You are very smart. Congrats PalmOn for being observant enought to look at the pictures. If you read the article it would make better sense but I know what you want; To mindlessly complain about pointless concepts and theories.

Can we just flag PalmOn whenever he gets like that? I’d like to but I want to ask permission first.

    hmmm…

The most obvious thing would be a synergy service for Twitter.

The leprechauns got a hold of webOS again. Someone’s got to stop those guys.

    I’m going with Just Type

    I’m going with Duende!

it’s almost obsolete is what it is.

I would hope it means Apple is buying webOS & will integrate Synergy & other awesome webOS features into iOS. But the likelihood of that happening is probably about the same as Leo Apotheker getting the CEO if the year award.

    • Brother Al

Why Not? The Board of HP picked him with no interview, OK’d the whacky idea of killing off the entire webOS lineup within weeks of finally getting it into the market, then further by removing the entire heart of HP ala the spinoff of PSG… And everyone else important is getting undeserved merits!
Bush got elected & re-elected via a dirty primary & subsequently even dirtier electorate margins.
Obama was somehow elected President with virtually no real experience, a a questionably thin vote margin, then he won the Nobel Peace Prize within months for doing nothing… (obviously didn’t deserve it considering both wars & still going, plus Libya & now Kenya)… …BofA, & half a dozen other banks got bailed with money borrowed from the Banks (aka the Fed Reserve board) & China on the US taxpayer debt, for incurring illegally run mortgage schemes… while the very same Banks returned the favor by raping folks in Foreclosure soon thereafter…
Just about everything else going on in the world these days makes no sense, so… Sure, why not?
Leo Apothecracker: CEO of the year!

I was prepared to hate your post, but you poured hate and agitation on everyone and everything without being partisan.
        I quite like that.

        • Brother Al

No hate, just stating facts about the insanity of the World & such.

You can pretty much register an app with Twitter with any name, linking to any site, as long as you use a valid API key.

      THIS

  • Robert

It must be the WebOs Toaster!!!

  • Joseph

Robert… I can’t wait until my toaster tweets about my english muffins being cooked to level 6 dark. Just as long as it does tweet about me using a fork to get them unstuck.

    • Dutch

      Earl Grey, hot.

  • Dutch

How about that, Pivot (The Sports Edition) is out…

  • Gr8tfullyblessed

Hmm seems like reading into too much into a minor detail . . But who knows I might be wrong and something might come out of this

  • Haubey

HP said at their Feb 9 announcement they were doing Twitter integration, so I’m guessing they’re just finally implementing it, probably through just type
    – sent from webOSroundup XL

Did they also mention that they were going to be dumping the TouchPad in a fire sale after approx 50 days? Don’t get me wrong, I have a 32GB TouchPad myself and look forward to an update as well, but webOS is not long for this world.

WebOS taosters running 3.0.5 Kitchen Edition ftw!

I use my TouchPad a lot. But my go to device is my phone (Pre 2).  I would like to see Twitter integration on my phone, please.  And some more phone love in general. Oi, webOS.

  • Cv_rlh

Is it me or the second image is mentioning a “fancy phone” ? Would it be integrated in the Pre too ?

    • http://webosroundup.com Patrick Campanale

That is a possibility that we hope for.

  • Anonymous

So this is a long shot….but somebody tweeting from WebOS Synergy about being inside a fancy phone AND an HTC event later today….possibilities

    • http://twitter.com/tsaunders tsaunders

I think the HTC event is about the HTC Rezound which has beats audio.

  • Brother Al

News Flash, HTC to release new Android integrated Touchpad & Pre3 from the firesale of stockpiled bits that HP abandoned the Taiwanese manufacturer with…
    LOL!
    I’m not too hopeful.

The issue that sucks is how HP has done so little for so long on HP/Palm smartphones. App development has been pitiful and software updates non existent especially – the Pre 2 which should be at least updated to 2.2 – I’ve got a pre 2 and a pre 3 – there are certain features I like about both phones. I like that the Pre2 is a more comfortable phone to handle but the Pre3 feels solid and has some good weight in the hands. HP went full forward on the touchpad and screwed the people who built the webos base – the smartphone/pre users.
