Forget the iPhone. My HTC EVO 3D on-screen keyboard is absolutely awesome. There is a setting so that each time I touch an on-screen key, it vibrates. One-handed, two-handed, either way. And, the phone has voice-to-text. So if you can deal without perfect punctuation, all you have to do is speak into the microphone and like magic, it appears on the screen. You can always edit the punctuation afterwards. And the on-screen keys are substantially larger that those on the pre (and the iphone, for that matter).

I too feel the pressure to leave behind my love for hard keys, but touch screens can never replace the ‘feel’ & tactile ease of 1 handed texting with hard keys for me. Oh well, I’m holding on to my original Pre as long as possible!

I set up my TP today and the only problem is the touch (which was fixed with patches and kernals), but typing is still an issue (multiple characters)

Seriously guys, this is old news (and has been for a while), yet nobody realizes that WOR couldn’t even spell Rubinstein’s name right? Yeah right, mobileroundup won’t take anything away from WOR… I’m off to *thebigcompetition*.
Do it right or don’t do it. I don’t expect daily updates, but I expect this to be a great and up-to-date site as it used to be.

You know what? I thought the same thing when I got my HTC EVO3D. But I figured I would give the keyboardless device a try, since so many people seem to like them. After day one of owning it, my thoughts were I am never going back to a phone with a keyboard. I have found the on-screen keyboard on the HTC EVO 3D to be far superior to any phone with a keyboard that I have ever tried.

Completely agree BUT for me it isn’t “waiting for the best and greatest”… it’s waiting for anything even close to webOS. I suspect my wife’s going to try to buy me an iPhone for my birthday in April (she replaced her Sprint Pixi with a Sprint iPhone 4s last fall) so I’ve been doing a detailed comparison of webOS vs iPhone vs Android. My conclusion? I may never get an iPhone. Why? Maybe I’m an old fart but I LOVE having a hardware keyboard. It also sounds like Ice Cream Sandwich is closer than almost anything else right now to webOS. So i’m waiting to see what Sprint has later this year with ICS running, hopefully something with a keyboard. If I find that combination is available and feels right, I might switch. If not? Time to Franken my Spint Prē and see how much closer Android gets to webOS in a year or three (or whether someone else starts making webOS phones again).

yeah but theres no improvement in battery life with the evo 3d. iphone 4s had the best battery life in the business in my opinion. im a heavy user and with my pre- i couldnt go past 11 am without a full recharge. with my iphone i can go from 5:45am to 10pm with out any charge in between and still be at 20%. that in it self makes me very happy with my purchase
