HP Wireless Central Offering Tons of Offers on webOS Smartphones

If you’re looking for the best place to buy webOS smartphones, HP Wireless Central gets our vote. Why? Because phones on every major U.S. carrier have got crazy deals and incentives on them:

  • Verizon and AT&T Pre Plus is FREE (new activation), with a free Touchstone
  • Verizon Pixi Plus is FREE (new activation), with a $50 gift card
  • Sprint Palm Pre is FREE (new activation), with a $50 gift card
  • Sprint Palm Pixi is $19.99 for new or current customers (Note: we just tested this and the price on a contract extension says FREE with a $50 gift card! Huh?)

No doubt, HP is doing their best to move these phones… could it be because next generation hardware is just around the corner??? We sure hope so!

AT&T and Verizon Pre Plus out of stock online (UPDATE: they’re back in stock!)

For the past few days, the Palm Pre Plus on both AT&T and Verizon’s online stores have been listed as out of stock. As sales of that model through both carriers has been relatively light, it’s quite improbable that actual stock of the smartphone is running that low. This has lead to speculation by some that a new device might be on the horizon. Both of these carriers listing the Pre Plus as out of stock at the same time certainly is a strange occurrence and is hard to brush off as mere coincidence. However right now to us it is not enough to indicate any impending new hardware, or much of anything else for that matter, even when combined with other recent possible revelations.

AT&T Palm Pre Plus drops to $99.99

AT&T was selling the Palm Pre Plus for $149.99, but after a quick check of AT&T’s website, it appears as though they’ve decided to knock $50 off of the price. Accompanying the new price is a “temporarily out of stock” notice. Hopefully this means that the Pre Plus is selling well for AT&T. For a phone as good as the Palm Pre Plus, $99.99 is a great price.

Even with this great price from the carrier, it isn’t the best price around. The AT&T Pre Plus can be had for a penny on Amazon. Additionally, HP’s Wireless Central is giving away the AT&T Pre Plus, along with a $50 HP gift card and free shipping

With the Pre Plus also available for $49.99 with Verizon Wireless, why is it that Sprint refuses to discount the original Pre below $149.99? It’s over a year old, and they probably still have a large inventory. Maybe they are waiting to drop the price, until close to the release of another webOS phone. That is purely speculative at this point, but we sure hope it’s the case.

Verizon to End Unlimited Plans Too? (UPDATED: 4G only)

Just recently we heard about AT&T’s changes to their data plans, effectively wiping the “unlimited” concept from the table.  Now, Bloomberg reports that Verizon is hinting at doing the same. (Update: well, maybe not for 3G plans. Read on for more.)

AT&T and Verizon Palm Pre Plus for a Penny… and Sprint Pre for $79?!

Okay, does this make any sense? Palm Pre Plus releases on Verizon January 25 for $149, falls to a penny in a matter of weeks on Amazon.com. It launches on AT&T May 16 and in ONE week falls to a penny on Amazon.com for new contracts. But here’s the kicker… the original Palm Pre on Sprint is still $79? Can someone explain this to us?

Regardless, we think new Verizon and AT&T customers are in for a helluva deal if they can pick up these phones for so ridiculously cheap. (Of course, Sprint customers still save a lot more money over the course of their 2 year contract… just sayin.)
